Yarn’s physical appearance plays an important role in finished fabrics and garments. Cotton, PC blends and other yarns contain unevenness, hairiness, neps, protruding fibers, slubs and other imperfections that are hard to recognize in yarn cone/package form.
To examine yarn regularity and appearance, a YG(B) 381 yarn examining tester is used. It has a standard Blackboard as a background, which helps measure any irregularity.
It is easy to operate. A yarn package is placed on a stand, and after adjusting pre-tension, the yarn is wrapped over the blackboard at controlled RPM. The dark background really helps in identifying irregularities. Once completed, it is visually assessed for its appearance quality.
This machine is greatly helpful, in the spinning, knitting and weaving industry, where yarn is needed for its smooth and even appearance.
