The fabric Downproof tester is used to determine the down-proof characteristics of fabrics. It tests down-filled products like jackets, comforters, and sleeping bags. The feather leakage tester evaluates the fabric’s resistance to feather leakage from seams.

A down-filled product, such as a jacket sample, is placed in a glass chamber with a certain number of silicon rubber cubes or balls. A vacuum is created in the amber to force the feather out from the fabric. The chamber rotates for a set number of rotations, after which the down leakage is counted.
